MAMMOTH ROCK, CHAPTER TWO
Same Place, Different Expression
Mammoth Rock sits in a borderland between sea, forest and mountain, shaped by fog, wind and constantly shifting light. The first wines captured that place through white varieties. These two reds offer another lens on the same landscape.
One vineyard, now seen from four different angles.
Two New Wines
Two red varieties. Two distinct expressions of the same rugged West Sonoma Coast vineyard.
Bright by nature. Complex by place.
Gamay can easily be juicy, bright and immediately appealing. What interests Matt at Mammoth Rock is what happens when that natural energy meets a site with tension and character.
Here, brightness is joined by structure and complexity in a wine that feels alive from the first pour, but continues to reveal more as it opens in the glass.
A little wild. Deeply aromatic. Unlike much else grown here.
Pineau d’Aunis is still an uncommon sight on the Sonoma Coast. For Matt, that is part of its appeal.
At Mammoth Rock, the variety becomes a lens for the vineyard’s wilder side: floral and spiced, with purple fruit, pepper and layers of aromatic detail that continue to shift in the glass.
At Their Peak
Two earlier wines return this fall, both drinking beautifully right now. When allocations open, you’ll be able to include either alongside the new Mammoth Rock wines in your bundle.
Wild-fermented and organically farmed, Cuvée Kaela has settled into itself with time in bottle — energetic still, but rounder and more resolved than the year it released.
The Komorebi Vineyard Pinot Noir has spent years finding its shape — layered, savory, and exactly the kind of Pinot that rewards a slow pour.
